I’m not writing a newsletter.
No, really.
I haven’t got time, I have like a million things I should do. I literally have a Trello full of things to do. So I am 100% not writing a newsletter. Starting a newsletter now is what starting a podcast was in 2019. Overdone.
So no newsletter here.
But.
I am sad that I don’t share as much as I used to. On Twitter, back in the day, I used to share *literally* thousands of links and things I’d read or found interesting. Now, not so much. I mainly tweet Spurs and football, that feels more where my Twitter has evolved.
As my sharing has changed, perhaps so has a lot of other people’s sharing experiences, I’ve noticed that most of my reading takes place here, on Substack (I do love the app) or in my inbox, or even engaging here in the comments. It feels nice. I share on Linkedin too, but I can’t share all the things I want to share there, I’d end up spamming people with links.
So I am not writing a newsletter.
But I am going to share links that I used to Tweet, I think weekly, but perhaps more often. A shoutout to my team who get all these links on Slack anyway. No need for you to subscribe, other than honour.
So, what am I going to share?
Well, I work in games, so probably some games stuff, but not too much. Social media, influencer and community marketing, yes 100%. Digital culture, yes. Odd TikTok stuff? If I can find it, you’ll see it. Leadership? Yes, I’ll do my best there too. Web 3 and the Meta…well, you’ll have to see about that, but probably. Perhaps the odd commentary of what I think is going on in digital too. Football will be at the very, very minimum, other than when things like this happen and they feel important to mention.
So if you’ve followed me for a while on Twitter and been thinking wow, he got so dull as he tweeted about Spurs for the 100th time that match day, this Substack is for you. It’s also a way for me to keep my writing juices, well flowing and accountable - more people sign up the more I post, that’s like a newsletter Flock To Unlock (remember them, lolz 2010s social days).
It’s still, not a newsletter. But if you want more emails about things going on in digital and social, curated for you, then this could be worth 5 mins.
But here is an automated block 👇🏼 about the Substack app, which genuinely I do like. it’s even on my front iPhone screen. See, bottom right.
I have exciting news to share: You can now read Stuff I used to Tweet out in the new Substack app for iPhone.
With the app, you’ll have a dedicated Inbox for my Substack and any others you subscribe to. New posts will never get lost in your email filters, or stuck in spam. Longer posts will never cut-off by your email app. Comments and rich media will all work seamlessly. Overall, it’s a big upgrade to the reading experience.
The Substack app is currently available for iOS. If you don’t have an Apple device, you can join the Android waitlist here.
This is a good idea. Also, agree, the Substack app has really this whole website a lot more digestible.
